In the continuing evolution of Kayland's perennial, global best-selling Contact series, the Contact Dual integrates Kayland's new IADS Dual midsole system with the exclusive Vibram Tork outsole to produce light, stable, workhorse backpacking boot suitable for multi-day treks in total comfort. The Comfort Fit provides a more ample forefoot volume to comfortably accommodate the natural swelling of the foot during long hikes or while carrying load.
Cocona
Cocona is derived from would-be discarded or "upcycled" Coconut shell husks. The husks are then processed into activated charcoal carbon and blended into a polyester matrix, which is spun into a fiber and then knit into a baselayer fabric. Good looking boot
This is a solid boot for any backpacking trip you can think of. Well made, quality materials and excellent sole. The new dual sole feels little lighter and more flexible than the previous version. Overall, this seems like a pretty nice boot that can take you through half of Georgia.
Great of of the box performance
I've picked up these boots right before my hiking trip when I didn't have much time to break them in. The shoes were comfortable and supportive pretty much from mile one. The sole has good amount of rigidity and has provided me with good amount of support while carrying my 30 lbs backpack. Crossing creeks was not a problem and the boots remained completely dry inside. I will have to wait couple more miles before I can make my final verdict as the boots are still morphing to my feet, but so far I am very happy with my purchase.
