Great out-of-the box feel
These shoes feel super nice and light straight out of the box. Compared to the XA Pro 3D I usually wear, the shoe is much lighter and feels little wider in toebox. I like the back-to-basics approach to this shoe which is in line with the latest barefoot running craze, but with this shoe from Salomon it actually makes sense and you don't look like an amphibian. Great idea to put a durable and flexible fabric on top of the toebox, that's exactly where all my shoes break first. Overall, this seems like a nice lightweight trail shoe that will perform nice on both trail and asphalt.
Like them better than XA Pro
I was curious to try the brand new shoe from Salomon. I have been wearing XA Pro 3D for some time and while I still think they are great they just felt little bit like too much of a shoe for what I needed. I don't run in harsh terrain all that much, most of my trail running is from my house to some beach and little park trail in the neighborhood. These shoes feel significantly lighter and more cushy. It also feels like they have more room inside making them little more comfortable. They offer good traction for both beach and trail and I rarely slip on wet surfaces. I really like the front protective fabric that seems like it will prolong the shoe life quite a bit.
Super comfortable
One of the great new shoes from Salomon. They are most definitely much lighter and more agile than their signature XA Pro 3D model. Seem like these were designed for various conditions, when you don't necessary need heavy and durable trail shoe which will end up being much heavier. The sole has good amount of cushioning for terrain that is little more demanding than classic road but it's not an overkill. They kept it pretty simple. Like the new upper and styling of the shoe is pretty cool too. Lacing works great, just as expected. Overall this seems like a much lighter shoe that will work great for runs in various conditions, trail not excluding.
Light and flexible
I like the new platform Salomon came up with. These shoes are noticeably lighter than their other trail runners thanks to the new sold build-up. It seems like they will provide little bit less rigidity and protection, but as I don't always run on gnarly trails this seems to be a pretty good balance. The shoe feels lighter and faster compared to XA Pro or Comp, the toebox also feels little wider, perhaps thanks to that new polymer patch over it. I use these for various workouts, even as a training shoe in the gym and I'm quite happy with them.
