XA Pro 3D Ultra trail running shoe from Salomon has been dominating the trail running world in past couple years. The brand new, light, durable and stable version 2 of this shoe gets a streamlined profile and improved stability thanks to a new outsole geometry. The shoe is built on a 3D Advanced Chassis that provides stability and performance even on the most demanding terrains. Triple-density EVA molded midsole provides pronation control and just enough cushioning where you need it. Sensifit system and gusseted tongue were designed to provide custom secure fit that is essential during trail runs where more lateral movement is present. Quicklace lacing system made out of Kevlar, featuring lace pocket and easy-to-grab handle will allow you to lace-up these trail running shoes in a jiff and will keep you safe throughout the run. Removable OrthoLite liner sitting on molded EVA footbed is treated with an anti-microbial treatment so your kicks will not smell funky even after hours-long runs.

Like them better than the previous version
So the main difference between the previous version of XA Pro 3D and this one seems to be in the sole, outsole more specifically. The lug geometry has changed and there are also some cosmetic changes in the upper, which I think make no difference other than visual. I do like the new sole design better, the lugs seem to attract less dirt during muddy runs and they clean better. They also feel little bit more neutral than my previous pair and I do enjoy that. Overall I still think that that Salomon XA Pro 3D is the best trail running shoe out there and the new sole design just made them even better. Keep up the good work Salomon!
Best trail shoe I have
This shoe is incredible. I left them outside for couple months by mistake and then I just washed them and they are like new.
Solid trail runner
These shoes are rock solid performers on the trail. Great stability and support and they feel pretty sturdy. The sole has just enough cushioning to smooth out the run without unnecessary padding. Inner works of the sole seem to be pretty sturdy and stable on all uneven surfaces and when hitting the rock. The lacing is well made and simply works, just what one would expect from Salomon. Great shoe to harsh terrains.
New version with new outsole
I've been fan of Salomon's XA Pro 3D shoes for years now, by far the best trail shoe I own, so I was curious to see what changes will be in the new version 2. The main difference is in the outsole, the lug geometry seems to be changed. I feel that the shoe has become more neutral this way and also that it cleans better (meaning I get less mud and dirt stuck on the outsole.) Otherwise the changes seem to be just cosmetic, which I don't mind--why fix something that's not broken. I think Salomon is doing a great job with this shoe and as long as they will not do something drastically stupid to it I'll be sold on it.
Very happy with my purchase
I love my Salomons-they just last forever. I had the previous version of XA Pros and it lasted me couple of years. When it was time to replace them I went for the same shoe. It feels really solid, great low profile and good grip. I like how easy is to adjust the laces on these trail runners and it's nice to have the lace garage to tuck away the pull thingy. I am looking forward to try these out, hope they will last as long as the previous pair did.
Nice
As many people before me mentioned, this is a very nice trail running shoe. Feels really solid and it provide good support and just right amount of cushioning. Took them to the trail the other day and was very happy with the performance. I didn't run anything extreme, but the shoes kept me stable and I felt safe throughout the entire run, even on the way down.
