Weighing in at 10.2 ounces ( 290 grams, size 9 ) the Speedcross is one of the lightest weight trail running shoes on the market. The shoe's feather construction creates a minimalistic shoe without scrapping the essentials. Salomon's Speedcross 2 uses a Winter Contragrip outsole that can be used from running on packed snow to blazing up dirt trails.

Lightest trail runner
Been running for years. Stumbled across the Speedcrosses when looking for a new trail runner. I've ticked in at least 150 miles in these shoes and they're still going strong. Great for winter running on icy terrain. Happy. Just not made for street performance.
Mud and snow are my friends
In case you missed the little M+S sign there, the shoe is really designed for mud and snow. Oversized lugs and the rubber mix make this trail runner a great performer in some pretty harsh conditions, if you dare to run in them. The entire shoe is pretty lightweight, feels almost like a running cleat, which is great because in those conditions lot of stuff will accumulate on your shoes making them heavier. The nylon upper is pretty tight weaved which prevents dirt from getting into the shoe. Salomon's lacing system is about as good as it gets, never once did I have to adjust the shoe during my run. Feels pretty neutral in posting and seems to be true to size.
Perfect for wet and mud
Great traction in muddy and wet conditions thanks to the oversized lugs on these bad boys. The shoe feels super light, almost like a cleat but has great support and traction. The outsole is little softer than other shoes I own, probably designed for the snowy terrain. The upper is made of pretty tight nylon which keeps dirt out of the shoes.
Perfect
Yet another great trail shoe from folks at Salomon. This one feel super light and you almost feel like floating thanks to the large lugs on the sole. Great traction in deep mud. I have yet to try it on snow, but from what I've read the rubber gets even more sticky in colder climate and provides great traction, kind of like winter tires. Everything else about the shoe is great as you would expect from Salomon: good secure lacing, nice upper and good amount of support.
The green one looks sweet
This is my third pair of Speedcross shoes from Salomon. Super nice trail shoe, light, great traction, perfect fit and hold, simply a great shoe. Super deep lugs on these puppies make it easy to get through deep mud and tight mesh keeps the dirt out. I went for the crazy green color which turned out to be looking very cool actually once little dirty.
Very light shoe with deep lugs
The first thing I've noticed is that this shoe is very light compare to other Salomon's trail shoes. Second, the lugs. They are oversized which will be great for running in mud and snow. The rubber seems to be pretty sticky compared to the other models, again something that will work great on icy terrains. The mesh upper is pretty tight and prevents lot of debris from entering the shoe. They feel great on, the smaller contact surface area makes them feel even lighter than they really are.
