Just as good as Precip or Venture
I was looking for a new rain shell and after considering the usual suspects like Marmot's Precip jacket or The North Face Venture jacket I have decided to try Helly's Seven J, particularly because of the attractive price. This jacket is every bit as good as any of the competitors'. The jacket breaths quite well during regular low-aerobic activities like hiking and after couple months of wearing it I cannot notice any issues with the waterproofing. The hood can be nicely adjusted. Sure, it's not as nice as some of the $200 jackets out there, but it does the job and you won't have to spend a fortune.
It simply works
There is nothing exciting about the rain gear and this jacket except that it works--and that's what you want from your gear. Taped seams, storm flap and HH's waterproof fabric make this jacket a staple in my gear bag. I like the athletic fit of the jacket which is great for actually keeping you dry, yet allows me to move.
Great jacket from Helly
I've been fan of Hally Hansen for years, primarily of their sailing line and so when I was shopping for a rain jacket I've decided to give it a try. I'm very happy with my purchase, the jacket works great and I stay dry all the time.
