This is a special collaboration between Dale of Norway and the Edvard Grieg Museum Troldhaugen. Inspired by the blossoming orchards, the effervescent waterfalls and the snow-capped mountains against the glittering Fjord, Edvard Grieg composed some of his most famous works at Lofthus. Founders and proprietors of the Ullensvang Hotel, Hans and Brita Utne, became close friends with Nina and Edvard Grieg. The hospitable landlady, Brita Utne, was proud to wear her traditional and beautiful Hardanger costume. From the pearl embroidered chest cloth on her costume our designer found the inspiration for the elegant rose pattern in the front and on the sleeves of the sweater. The intricate structural pattern in Lofthus is inspired by the magnificent Hardanger embroidery which is found on the shirt and apron of the Hardanger costume. In the neck opening the sweater is decorated with a beautiful and traditional pewter clasp.
