The globe conveys the global reach of the Red Cross. The palm of a hand is a symbol of the Norwegian Red Cross campaign against violence in our society. The jar represents the extensive work to bring clean and healthy water to the millions of people living in areas with severe draught or polluted drinking water. The cross symbolises the Red Cross, and a representation of this symbol can also be seen integrated in the pattern. The two hands protecting a white dove is the international symbol of peace and is therefore a natural element to bring into a design representing the work of the Red Cross.
